I've used my SSS system to render a glass of orange juice. I like the
results so I'm beginning a higher quality render. Questions/comments are
welcome as always! :-)

Hmm.
Just doesn't look right!
Orange juice is .... well .... ORANGE! :) not yellow.
You will have to tweak your colors ;)
Best regards.

Hehe, I intended to but then I forgot and started a rener which took far
too long (and then I cancelled). Now I'm having shadow issues. I just can't
seem to get the absorption media to cast shadows... >=[

Here it is again, this time made from healthy oranges!
I still can't get the shadows to work, at least in the way I wanted them. I
tried photons which did bring back the shadows but it resulted in a nice
big bright white caustic (as if the glass held plain water). I think the
problem lies in the fact that the orange juice object overlays slightly
over the glass object (which supposedly creates correct
reflection/refraction). Right now I'm considering using light groups or
something.

Create a second "orange juice shape" with no_image and let it cast the
shadow, perhaps.
Cheers!

The thing is if it casts a shadow on the ground it will also cast a shadow
into the media itself making the orange juice black. Another idea would be
to take hollow away from all existing objects and make a slightly smaller
media object inside. My poor tormented computer's been rendering non-stop
for weeks now without being turned off once (kudos to XP for this one).
POV's CPU usage time is reaching 545 hours now. (Yipes!) I'll see what
experimentation I can do.
