While working on this year's christmas card i got something suited as a
desktop background. So if anyone is looking for a christmas wallpaper...

I'm curious: Did you used the same macro for all snowflakes? That would be
a really nifty macro, if so. :-)

I really like the right-most side of the image where the finish of the
snowflakes really shine. the focal blur is a little distracting on the
really blurry parts, but good looking on the slightly blurry parts.
I can't help but want to see an hdri version if the snowflaks have a
reflection to them.

I didn't develop this into a macro, just varied the code to get some
nice flakes. It's inspired by:

That's because of too few samples... ;-)

This is using HDRI (but a fairly unspectacular sky lightprobe).

BTW you can find a version without focal blur and PNGs in the 'latest
image' section on my website now.
