Wow! I love the ship and its texture. They fit so well togethor and the
overall effect is so alien!! How did you model the ship? Blobs?

Cool job, mighty scary alien ship (blender modeled?)
Tough I had to apply a gamma correction on your pic to see all details in
dark zones ( may be my monitor isn't well calibrated, I'd like others
advices)

This is the best one yet. The ship design is interesting and I like the
small details like the metal frames around the lights. One thing is a little
bothersome to me, however. The atmosphere around the flare curls up behind
the ship and appears a little like a clumsy exhaust trail. This is a very
small detail, but takes away from the idea I have about the way a ship like
this would move.

Is Sympatico a modeling tool? This is the idea that I got from another post.
Anyway, the design of the ship looks like the hard part to me. The actual
modeling of the ship in Pov-Ray would be trivial.

I hope you continue to make these stylish space pics.

LOL... Sympatico is an ISP, and Flaming Monarch was expressing his delight
in Coridon's choice of ISP :-)

The blue-grey streak you're referring to is supposed to be the plane of the
galaxy. I realize it needs to be flatter, but fixing that problem will
mean reimplementing a good chunk of Galaxy in my own code.

Nah. It's Canada's largest ISP, and pretty much the *only* choice for
decent broadband in my area. :-(

The ship mesh weighs in at nearly 8,000 faces; I wouldn't even try to model
something that complex in Pov script. It designed and modeled over the
course of a week using Wings3D, with the gun points (glowing bits) added in
Pov using the standard primatives.

Try it. You might like the control.

I've had a few other complaints about the image gamma so I've uploaded a
brighter version with a few minor changes thrown in. The URL is still
http://www3.sympatico.ca/gcircle/fourthage.jpg .

I find it interesting how many people are reading it as an alien ship; it's
supposed to be design built by a group of humanity's descendents sometime
around the year 2900.
