I've been working on this on and off for a while, haunted by the thing.
I'm happy with the flag, and the building is almost okay - it looks like
some edges need cleaning up.

The alternate title is Proud Boys Come to Town but I suspect that's a
bit too political for this forum.

The flag is 77 bicubic patches. The clouds are Friedrich A. Lohmueller's
stacked planes clouds macro.

There is an atmospheric media but I'm having a hard time getting it to
have any effect other than colorizing the whole thing instead of
highlighting the spotlight on the flag.

the flag: It seems to "float", without it being attached to the rope.
Also, the side where it attaches, should be more taut.

<grin> That's for the "chin-wagging" off-topic...

Hmm.. we need code to be able to comment on that. What do you want to
achieve?

I have continued to manually adjust those points and then realized that
because I know the height of each row of the grid, and the rope is just
a bunch of connected bezier splines, I should--in theory--be able to
calculate the exact position of the rope for each connection.

But I think tweaking by hand was faster than algebra.

I really wanted an obvious spotlight on the flag, and decided that a
hollow cone to fill with a media was better than trying to make it work
as atmospheric media
