A little update about progress.
Maybe it doesn't show much in terms of /visual/ changes, but the current
beta #1.6 (not yet released) has a number of fundamental improvements
and corrections under the hood. Slowly approaching a mature version.
Here, two different granites are shown: Dakota Red (right) and
Saint-André Green (left).

Yes, and the even "better" news is that for each granite, the nine (9!)
different variations (the mixed use of "cells", "step noise", "crackle")
are better integrated now (still some tweak-work to do though) not to
mention the "blended" version and whether the output is "polished" or
not. I confess it is a hell of a brain-twisting job for me to get that
graphically and comprehensively described in the - at this stage - so
very necessary docs. Even for me, who built this coding maze, I struggle
to get it right! However, I slowly get there...

Thanks. I am not yet entirely satisfied with the "green" one. The main
difficulty being the impossibility to obtain an image of the real stuff.
What there is is not really helpful.

Yes, I know. That is the only (serious) place where it is shown and
described more or less extensively. I have read/used part of the info
there to model the texture; but the image shown is crap indeed.
I had not looked at the contact info in a serious way until now. Maybe
they have something better: the quarry seems not to have been in
exploitation very long. According to the report, between 1991 and (at
least) 1997, when it is said to be 'closed'.
Fun: I tried to locate the quarry using Google Earth. I came close
indeed, following the description in the report, but got stuck. I found
Maybe street/road names changed in the meantime (although I doubt it).
And no trace of a quarry in that wooded region, although they are
described to be situated on the top of the hills.

I know this is stupid :-) but I think I found the probable site of the
carefully the directives. Attached an overview Google Earth snapshot.
White arrow points to the place.

I gotta agree that Dakota Red has more visual interest but the green variation
will certainly have a place in many scenes as well. I think "Flanders Gray" is
going to be the best of all. I can hardly wait for it! Please quit your job so
you can work on Granite_21 full-time! I think it's going to be perfect for my
current/never-ending project...
PS - The veins are looking good!
