It has been some while since I last uploaded an image here. RL etc.
However, I have been working steadily on a number of scenes,
experimenting with different things (mostly rejecting the results of
course). This particular scene is under way since about last May. The
title refers to the movie by Nicolas Winding Refn which loosely inspired
the scene. There is a lot more to do of course.

Acknowledgments:
- Scott Boham's SkySim.inc;
- Cloudscape using Juha Leppälä's code, as used originally by Mick
Hazelgrove but tweaked to my needs;
- Bald Eagle's spiral code as basis for the height_field, but severely
wrung and beaten in GeoControl;
- a drakkar plucked from somewhere on the net and in the process of
being remodelled in Silo2 (and Poser for the wind in the sail);

Still needed: grassy foreground, trees, people.

Aye!

I've been bloody wrung and beaten, I tell ya!

And he's fixin' to further render me!

That rascal deGroot - Eee's always watching, and waiting - toiling away at 'is
infernal schemes, I tell ya. It's black magic, it is - forever pounding "keys"
to craft his dark "code" - to _shoot rays_! No good came come of it!

But 'is landscapes, aye - they bring a calm an' beauty to the eye that make me
screen seem like it's been brushed by the wings of angels.

Nice work, as always, Thomas. :) Looking forward to seeing your additions and
improvements.

I presume "drakkar" is the boat? I can't find the word in any
dictionary, and a Web search turns up nothing but perfume ads.

The proper English term is 'longship' indeed. However, see 'Drakkar' in:

I'll buy you a shot of your favourite fire water to amend. That should
be enough sorcery for you now I suppose. :-)

I don't think this land is their Valhalla, but that drakkar might be leaving to
find it.
The fog is nicely laid out.

Cheers
Ton.

Initially, the Vikings where traders. It's just after they realized how
bad things where in the rest of the world that they started raiding. It
was often easier to just raid a place and take what they wanted or
needed than to conduct business.
