Is povray a good tool for creating fractals? I've always liked these:

I haven't familiarized myself with fractals that much, to be honest. In POV
there are at least the julia_fractal object and also some fractal patterns for
texturing, but then for actual fractal generation, I'd say there are specialized
programs better suited for namely that stuff out there. Perhaps you could make a
topic about "POV & fractals" in the general section of the news groups to better
reach those who know more about the subject? ;)

For my images above, I use 2 isosurfaces, 1 for soil and 1 for liquid, then
media for atmosphere. It's the same object in the close-up and zoom-out. Only
with media re-scaled a bit in the orbital view. :)

Your series of images is taking a consistent trend towards a planetary
(if not galactic) history. Fascinating and very well done. That planet
is the weirdest I have seen from the Encyclopaedia Galactica. I confess
I do not own the latest edition though :-)

Very nice combination of text and pics; is it open for input or finished work?

These are finished pieces for my small and humble indie game project that I've
been working on for around 3 years now. The concept and main story are already
finalized, and at the moment I'm tinkering with the remaining in-game art and
also metatexts. Still a work in progress to a greater scale, so no actual
release dates or anything too clear yet, as things are in constant yet easygoing
development. It'll be a relaxed light puzzle with minimalistic interface,
laid-back pace and many surprises in the story along the road, and freeware all
the way, that much I'm able to say at this point. :)
