I was just playing a bit with TopMod and got a nice gem geometry. I
could not resist...

And now you need to give this image to a charming, wonderful woman of
your choice. :-D

I would use an underground of cut, polished rock material. Might look
even better again. But it is marvelous, as it is.

Gems are as nice theme, but the wheel on gems is already round.
If you go to youtube and type in rendering a diamond
you get things like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuhHam3_uwY

I think this is how it should look. Ok, Octane is a commercial program, but if
we stay with Freeware, this one looks good:

The only Gem, nobody can render at this time is the OPAL.
Diamonds, Ruby's etc. is just some sort of more or less coloured glas,
with another IOR and maybe a bit Dispersion ...

True, but I am just messing around and not interested in realism at all.
This is thomasite ;-)

Well, I wonder if with version 3.7 opal is not within reach. I seem to
remember some striking examples a while ago here.

The woman I love does not need gems. ;-)

Believe me... it's ******* difficult. I'm still regretting to have
taken the challenge Theo presented to me privately (well, at least it
served to get me poving again).

I tried a lot of things, but only got somewhat closer using multiple
emission medias. It still lacks some very distinctive features... and of
course, it's not animatable.

Hmmm... I see what you mean indeed. Still, this is pretty good!

Yes, much better... but I would make it even more clear. Also, what's
the IOR of thomasite?
