Does this mean 'annoyance will pass, but understanding will come?'

Not exactly, it is a subset. See below.

When you die, change stops.
When you don't change, you are as good as dead (in the mind).
A bit extreme but I hope you get the idea.
When water stops moving it becomes stagnant. And so on... ;-)
Simply your viewpoint changes all the time unless you get stuck in a rut.
I like the wording of "annoyance will pass, but understanding will
come". It is worth saying a couple of times. :-) But it refers to
wisdom. Something, for which, I am still waiting for.

Nice one. I shall have to note that down in my quotations collection...

Watch out! /waiting/ is stopping so wisdom will never come to you ;-)
You will have to take up your bundle and get to the roads, young man.

Be my guest.
Still waters run deep, shallow waters turn stagnant.
That one earned me a clip round the ear, from my aunt Beryl.

I wait in the service of the Red Queen. And it is quite tiring. I can

She was training me in the ways of the outside world.
In how to temper my rapier sharp tongue.

By service I mean race.
As I wait for wisdom I am always moving as I remain in place. Thus
Wisdom comes to me on its own accord.
As I wait.
For Wisdom
to come
hither.
Not, I hope
hence.
