Hi(gh)!
Perhaps you remember my attempt at modeling an electronic organ back in
2005... too bad, my old Eminent Solina P-240 stood at my parents' home,
so that I could only see it two or three times a year - and some years
later, it was given away, so that my POV-Ray scene remained unfinished
(perhaps I still will be able to complete it, but now just by guessing
from photos rather than accurately measuring the real thing).
Meanwhile, there have been several other organs in my Cologne flat,
first a Yamaha Electone C-55N (from 1981), then a Technics SX-E44 (from
1983)... the latter, albeit in perfect working order, I had to scrap in
favour of an upper-class Technics SX-G5 (from 1984), which I got for
free (!) in 2011 - in the long run, my room was just too crowded with
two organs (and waiting for a buyer took too long).
So I knocked down the E44's walnut veneer cabinet, but retained the
keyboards, bass pedal, volume pedal and all control panels visible from
the front.
Finally I decided to take a new attempt at modeling an electronic organ,
starting with the upper front control panel of the E44... as my G5
belongs to the same semi-digital Technics organ generation of 1983/84
and with my parents, there still is a small Technics SX-E22, I found it
convenient to build an object library for all Technics organs of the E
and G series (and strictly, also the F series, which shares the E and G
Technicses' basic design).
Said and done... with my new slide caliper (accuracy is 0.02
millimetres!) and digital camera, I soon got together a model of this
upper panel - and here's what I got up to now!
Next will be the labels on the panel (the Technics labeling standard
font looks very much like Arial!), after that the actual plastic sensor
tabs with their red LED lights...
