When I say WIP, it is just a model but I don't really know what I am going to do
with it. As I have not done any images for almost 2 years now I thought I had
better do something before I completely forget how to use POV.

I am thinking of a scene with lots of balloons/different textures etc the kind
of thing you see at a hot air balloon festival. I have the transparency a bit
too high on this one but am just playing with settings at the moment (this part
reminds me of why I never have time to do many images these days).

If anyone knows of a good source of people to put inside the balloons that would
be good, I don't think my previous attempts at people made out of blobs will
really cut the mustard..

Actually I like it a lot as it is and with it's highly saturated colors
it would make a great poster. You'll only have to get rid of the color
banding.

maybe you'll find something here
http://www.archive3d.net/?category=27&page=49
and convert it with PoseRay or just use a billboard figure.

Hi Ive,

Thanks for the feedback and the link, I will have to dust off my copy of PoseRay
(I downloaded it a long time ago and never really looked at it for long enough
to do anything). For now I have added a balloon to an old scene which is still
rendering though as I set the focal blur very high and was not expecting it to
be quite so slow.. (twice as fast with 3.7 though, just wish I had access to
something with more than 2 cores).

Will upload it once it finishes then start on converting some people (I will
need a few for the scene I am planning).

Thanks

Sean

Had a look through my old scenes to see if any of them would work with a hot air
balloon, this was the best option (an old IRTC entry).

Think I need to work on a new scene now though.

Nifty! The bug in the foreground is a very nice touch which effectively

to leave all of the objects in focus, thus allowing the viewer to select a point

Thanks, the bug is meant to be a termite and the original scene had what was
supposed to be a termite mound in the slightly bare patch near the front of the
image. I can't remember what the subject of IRTC round was and from looking at
the site or what's left of it :-( I cannot see an entry for this image so maybe
I never got round to submitting (wouldn't be the first time I missed a
deadline)..

The vegetation is stunning - I wish I was that skilled, Khyberspace
would benefit extremely from custom-made pistacia cabulica and populus
afghanica trees! Did you do it in pure SDL?

See you in Khyberspace - www.khyberspace.de

Hi Yadgar,

Thanks, nearly all the vegetation was generated using Arbaro and placed in the
scene using SDL (macros and loops using the trace function) the plant with the
bug on in the foreground was had made in SDL using a blob (as was the bug).

The balloon is just CSG with media for the flame (not that you can see it in
this
scene).
