Ha! You almost got me - I was about to move on when I noticed the checkered
plane in the reflection is much bigger than the one the sphere is actually
sitting on. Very nice!

They do, actually. But there's no visual clue that they do, so your 
brain presumes they must end at the plane it can see.

That and the part where the camera isn't reflected, and the light beams 
don't show up in the reflection either.

Trippy once you see those details, somewhat plain before the fact.

Thanks. Might deserve some fleshing out though, it's just a sketch for 
now. Camera could need some details for instance.

ah, I pondered that but interpreted the small blobs of light
at the ray ends to mean their hitting something visible.
