Here's the new version. I think I'm finished with this for now, unless anyone's
got any particularly inspired (and not too difficult!) suggestions. Making the
planet was fun, and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be!

I think it would be cool if the planet cast a blue light on the bottom
of the knot.

Maybe make the spaceship texture a little more metallic?

Very cool picture!

Hmm, that was the effect I was going for, but even with gray_threshold = 0 it
doesn't look very blue. Perhaps the white of the cloudtops is dominating it.
I'll try switching on media radiosity, see if that makes a difference.

I started off with metallic textures, but when it was reflective I found it got
too busy, and I lost the nice radiosity shading. A little specular might be
good, but I'd need blurred reflection to get the planet to show up. Perhaps I'll
give it a try, if it doesn't render too slow. I quite like the starwars/nasa
matt white look tho :)

Thx!

Very nice image. However, that high up in space, shouldn't the side facing away
from the sun be nearly black in shadow?

Looks like the architect tended to drink a bit.
