Hello everyone!
I've created another Lego model based on set 7669 - Anakin's Jedi
Starfighter.
Comments and suggestions welcome :-)
This image was created using a combination of MLCAD, LdrDat2Dxf (by Rolf
Redford), PoseRay and POV-Ray 3.6. I used radiosity lighting settings
based on Koyan's tutorial at:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=163897
I used a combination of Lutz Uhlmann's LGEO colour definitions and
Koyan's colour settings.
For the next render I'll try Koyan's HDRI lighting settings (I'm
assuming these will work in POV-Ray 3.6?)
You can download the 3D model in various formats (including POV-Ray
scene files) at the following link:

Bye for now

HDRI lighting requires MegaPOV or the beta's of POV Ray 3.7. Both are stable and
good for everyday rendering needs.
POV Ray 3.7 needs the ambient term in the finish statement changed from "ambient
1" to "emission 1" for radiosity to work.
Cheers,
Edouard.

Nice modeling.
No! HDRI don't work in 3.6 at all. First introduced in megapov,
implemented in 3.7 beta (prety stable).
In 3.6, you can fake it using the "light dome" method where you use
100's of light_source of various colours and intensity to emulate the
light probe.

It's very nice; it reminds me of how exciting it was to receive a new set.

Is there an advantage to using LdrDat2Dxf/PoseRay over L3P/LGEO?

... which, by the way, seems to be the better solution when your light
probe has any small bright light sources - such as the sun for instance,
or a light bulb. Radiosity tends to not catch those properly.
