I seem to have started a lot of projects lately... :-)
One of them is modelling landscapes inspired by the work of J.R.R. Tolkien.
To date, I am "sculpting" (with PaintShop Pro) a part of Beleriand, i.e. the
western part of Nevrast, between the Firth of Drengist and Mount Taras. The
current state shows the coastline towards the south, with Mount Taras in the
background. In the large bay in front of the Firth of Drengist lies a
nameless isle.
In a later stage, I want to model Vinyamar, the abandoned stronghold of
Turgon, where Tuor meets the sea god Ulmo, in the First Age of the world....
Comment and criticisms more than welcome.

I read those books, oh, 15 years ago. Consequently, I have no idea what you're
talking about :S
Your scene is off to a good start, though. Have you tried Wilbur, the freeware
height_field modeling tool? It's got some nice filters for filling basins,
eroding, etc.

<grin> time to read them again? :-)
It doesn't matter, I just hope to get a nice image in the end. The
explanation is for the fans like myself.

I have not tried Wilbur (I shall though) but I intend - after I have the
general outline of the landscape in place - to work on it with GeoControl,
which I own.
