Here's a new WIP I've been working on the last few days (ambient occlusion
render on top, full render on bottom).
I'm hoping your varied artistic eyes can give me some useful feedback for
improving the shot....

Fun idea. It's not 100% clear whether those are fur or thorns. Maybe that's

Yes! Yes! Very suggestive indeed. Could be a nice illustration of the Cold
War era.
I really don't know how you could improve on this...

The AO version reminds me of electron microscopy images.

I'm still making a few small changes and then I'll do some hi-res render passes
(10,000 x 5,000 px) of whatever these are. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

Nice. It's probably too late to nitpick any more.
What method did you use to get the ambient occlusion? I'm currently searching
for the preferred method for the pov 3.7 blender exporter to translate AO to pov
syntax rather than having to bake blender's own.
