I think the composition is greatly improved by the partial obstruction of

Better indeed. I have still some doubts about the clones' poses. They look 
too unconcerned with what is happening, not even protecting their eyes, as 
if they were unaware of what is happening. You could increase the dramatic 
effect by more work on the poses, especially the hands which do not show any 
tension at all; the body language which should show some fear or at least 
concern.
