Everything in this image is based on the rainfall & temperature maps I
posted a while ago.

The stratus cloud is a little too thick, causing a white out in the bottom
right areas, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.

There's still a few things I want to do with it, but this is only 1 part of
the IRTC image I'm working on and the competition deadline is fast
approaching, so I'm probably going to focus on the other elements.

Very cool. Much better than purely random fractals.

I'm curious what the white line around the continents is. If that's supposed
to be surf, I think you're far too far away to see surf.

I don't speak for Tek, but my guess is sandy beaches ...

AWESOME!

Believable continent shapes, (almost) realistic cloud swirls... much
better than anything I could achieve during the last 14 years using POV-Ray!

Do you already use real relief or is it just a "flat" texture with some
normals added? If the former, then these large inland seas seen right of
the center should be at somewhat different altitude levels...

I can't wait for a high-scale atlas, let's say 1:1,000,000...

See you in Khyberspace!

Yep! In fact it's from the water-colour calculation, the more shallow the
water the closer to that light-yellow colour it gets. If I have time I'll do
something more like my earlier versions which had more variety in beaches
and sea-floor materials.

It's just a texture with normals. I might put the clouds on a concentric
sphere a small distance above the ground so they cast a shadow, but I have
no plans to make the surface 3D.

Amazing... there is even a peninsula that looks like Spain! :)

I've added ice caps, snow on mountains, and tweaked the clouds. I think it's
done, for now!
