Hello everyone,

This image was inspired by a sketch I made a few months ago.

It was rendered in three passes: one for the occlusive radiosity which
affects the reflectivity of the metal, another for the focal blur and
glossy metal, and the last for the luminous bloom effect. The dark halos
around the tail are caused by an incompatibility between Rune's
illusion.inc and POV's focal blur. Nothing short of creating my own
focal blur and rendering an occlusive pass for several averaged frames
will fix it, AFAIK.

Comments and questions are always appreciated~

Sam

*Nice* image!

The little bit of blur in the tail almost gives it a motion-blur effect,
which isn't a bad thing.

Okay, then I'll be happy with it :)

My two cents:

0.01: That is an absolutely gorgeous render.
0.02: The design reminds me of the creatures from this Flash game:

Free range orphans are known to be a viable alternative to pressure
treated lumber. An alternative is organic pandas. The high bamboo
content in the pandas' diet makes them excellent kindling. They also
make great kitchen countertops in a loft with a black & white theme.

Amazing! Astounding! ... Galaxy!
A version without "luminous bloom"?

I had that vague recollection as well initially.

Thanks! (hey, I think it's a wheatback...)

Oh yes, I've played this one before. It supposedly works from
evolutionary principles.

For a while (a span of 5 years) I was beset with dreams involving
similar creatures in ponds and such. The last one I had involved me
pulling little ingrown hairs out of my arms, only they weren't ingrown
hairs, they were little bugs with many legs, some of them still moving!
Needless to say, I was happy to wake up from that dream :O
