Just started a new series of images provisionally titled "Quis custodiet
ipsos custodienses" (Loose trans:"Who watches those who watch us?"). Not
a great deal to show at present but by posting I am forcing myself to
continue and maybe even finish the series.

Really nice. (Looks kind of like a deep-sea diving helmet for an alien creature
with multiple eyes).
Great work on the positioning of the screws. Using trace?
Yeah, I think I would have used the much more futuristic Phillips-head screws
:-p

Nope, a couple of fairly hairy macros that I had hanging around from a
steam engine model I did a few years ago.

Point taken on the type of screw head. I may change 'em to look
something like those abominable security screws everyone seems to be
using to secure PDA's with.

Phillips head futuristic??? Beter to use Robertson or Torks. Could also use
those two pronged kind they use in some places: the head have 2 holes and you
use a special screw driver that have a blade rith two prongs.

Hmm, seems my little joke fell flat. :-( Meaning, one screw type is just as
hi-tech (or low-tech) as another...compared to future technology. (Yes, yes, I
know, some screws *are* better than others, in the here-and-now.) But this
cool-looking orb has a fantastical quality about it-- Earth-y yet alien-- so a
mix of technologies, old and new, seems very appropriate.
Actually, I like the slotted screws. They look uncluttered, and the single slot
clearly shows off their "random tightening."

Not so special! Take a regular screwdriver and a junior hacksaw...
Best of all, you can still use it on regular screws after the operation.

DZUS fastenters, twist em 1/4 turn and they pop up on springs.
They just look like slotted screws.
