Big change of textures. Here I used JimCharter's StainedStones set of macros
for the columns and the result is much better indeed. In any case, it
approaches what I have in mind.

The result is much better indeed! I like the direction this is going.
The floor's texture still looks to simple for my taste, it could use
some more smaller details. Also some more smaller rocks/column fragments
lying around (like in tennis ball size or smaller) would add a lot (c.f.
Tek's Sentinel image).

Florian

How about using some isosurfaces to get some broken pieces and edges?

Thanks Florian. The tiles need to be reworked too now. I had left them for
later. Indeed, it is time to think about some rubble :-) Not too much of it
as I believe it is a well-used place (you do not see too much rubble in
Pompeii for instance)

Would be possible indeed. However, I do not like isosurfaces too much for
that kind of things. I prefer to work with meshes or CSGs.

I think you should still work on that floor texture. It looks too
simple, too much of a "beginner povray user texture", if you know what I
mean.

One good method is to look at photos of real stone tile floors and
trying to mimic their look as closely as possible. Not only do you get a
better result, you also learn the principles of how to make such
textures look good.

True. I am working on it. This was a first and rather coarse approximation
of what I had in mind. It doesn't need to be photorealistic in my view, but
it should be believable, and in the present stage it clearly is not.

Looks like it is shaping up!

This made me take a look back at the Ruins round in the irtc because I'd
remembered that Nathan O'Brian had done an antique ruins. You might
find it interesting.

Good suggestion. Thanks Jim.
