Hello everyone,
Just a small image today. It's a star ruby for a website I'll be making
for my friend who deals in gemstones. I thought I'd incorporate it into
the logo. What do you think? Is it convincing? I didn't do anything
fancy for the star; it's just a pigment.
Questions and/or comments are welcome, as always~

It looks gorgeous but please can you send me an item to check if it is
really convincing? ;-)

Ha! I wish I had a star ruby such as this :( I have some rough corundum,
but I can't tell if it's sapphire or ruby.... they're too dark to tell
just yet. I'd like to polish them, but I don't have the proper setup for
that ATM.

Just did a quick search about star rubys.
Your's is particularly smooth, as most of those I found where showing multiple
flake like internal reflections and highlights. They showed colours going from
pink to purple.
Nice stone.

Hmm, this gives me an idea... a potentially slow-rendering idea :)

Thanks!

Hey Sam, you've turned the corner with this image. :o)
Faultless.

Thanks... wait, turned the corner to where? :)
> Faultless.
A stone of this quality would probably be considered such, but that
alone decreases the realism of the scene, I think. It was fun, anyway :)

The corner of realism.

Yep, it's a little too good with the actual star - I would expect a
smidgeon more blurriness around each leg. As it is though, I'd buy that
stone...
but that

I don't think so. See first answer above. ;)

Of course! It always *is* fun. : o)
