Just playing around with some slope based textures (no lights in this
scene). It seems to work particularly well with blood, hence this scene.

Hmmm, I should clarify that I don't have an unhealthy obsession with blood
and gore! And now to undermine the goal of my previous sentence, which
version do people prefer, the first one with the focus near the top blood
blobs,
or this one with the focus on the pool of blood on the ground? Any other
suggestions for improvement?

the style reminds me something of "Sin City" the movie. stylized and
vibrant.

I prefer the first one.  The edge effect just doesn't look right on the
ground puddle--it's a distraction.  Blurring the puddle helps unify the
composition.

i prefer the first one also ..cause the second plan doesn't have any 
interest ...compare to the shape of your drip of blood

Thanks all, the first one it is.

As per normal, since I've spent a couple of hours playing with this image
I'll now get it printed at 10"x15". It's quite cheap (less then a 2 cups of
good coffee), and is a good motivator to finish the projects you start.

I keep thinking that once one of my images really "turns out", I'll have 
a poster made of it for my wall.

I'm not sure that I'd do that with that blood image of yours, though.
