I've been fascinated by POV-Ray for many years, but I have to confess
that I haven't really done much with it and still consider myself pretty
much of a novice. I'm very much a lurker in these NGs, but do post a
comment now and then -- however I've only posted an image once (quite
some time ago).
But I recently started playing with an image that initially merely
started as an attempt at writing a macro to create rounded boxes (I
know, reinventing the wheel and all that... but interesting to do).
When the macro was done I started putting a scene around it -- nothing
real and it's semi-abstract. I am fairly pleased with the result (and
am currently using it as my wallpaper) because the source is so simple
-- only standard includes and simple primitives. So I thought it was
about time I finally posted something here... :-)

It has an appealing simplicity, Larry, that I like very much.
The only thing that troubles me a bit is the banded texture on the
height_field that I find too regular. Some turbulence would be interesting.

I like that erie look it's got, like days when the sky is dark with heavy
clouds but the sun is shining where you're at.... Vivid/bright foreground
darkish background...
PS this is a great place for re-inventing wheels. That's the fun of it.

Well, I can't take any credit for the sky, it's from "skies.inc"
It's simply: sky_sphere { S_Cloud5 scale .5 }
