So, here's the robot I posted a few days ago, now in it's more dramatic
situation. It's far from finished, and I only work on it every now and
then when I really feel the urge to move on with it, so that it evolves
to whatever it will turn out to be.
What's missing in this image is that little piece of rock to which he's
holding onto. The general idea is related to my off-topic post from
yesterday, being in love with the wrong gal.
I'm not yet sure about the fire down below, or how to light the entire
scene for that matter, and most of the objects are still subject to
changes when the scene evolves further and I notice where things don't
fit too well with what I want to convey. Textures are completely
preliminary, as should be obvious...
Regards,
Tim

It's looking very promising!
When I saw it, I instantly knew it was based on an emotional theme.
However, even after reading that its about your current situation, I still
think I need it explained to fully understand it. The fiery pit represents
what? And the apparently heavy object in a chain represents what?
Looking forward to see the progress.

Good, at least that part I got right even before the image is finished! :-)

The idea is simply that the robot carries it's treasure along with him
in a chest, attached to a chain on his breat-plate. As for the fiery
pit, I'm not sure that it'll stay that way, but the basic idea is that
the treasure is pulling him down (not yet visualized on the model, but
the breast-plate will be straining and maybe even tearing apart under
the stress) while he wants to get up onto the ledge. He can't really let
go of the treasure (hence the hand on the chain), but it doesn't look
like it'll do him any good to hang onto it (the "fiery pit" could also
just be replaced with a deep chasm or something, for now, it's just to
set different lighting conditions for contrast). It's a *really* early
WIP, something I usually don't show here that often (because of the vast
unrecognizable and/or subject-to-change parts).

I'll keep you updated on major changes. :-)

It's a subtly moving (i.e.emotional) scene, Tim.
Personally, I would like to see a dark schasm instead of the fire, but that
is just my 2 microcredits...

Thanks.

I'm tending towards a chasm as well. Fire and burning seems too much
like hell, which I don't want to imply.
