Not as gorgeous as Tek sea, but I'm really happy with the result. This
is a scene I had in mind for some years, but never got enough
inspiration... until I've seen Tek sea: that was really inspiring!

The sea is an isosurface, and the birds flock is simple csg with blobs
and spheres. The buoy and the bird on it are Wings3D models done very
quickly. The sky and sunlight come from Lightsys. Everything cooked
during the weekend.

Sources coming soon...

Ah, Jaime, you uploaded a real photo, right? :-)

It looks really realistic. Congratulations!

In fact, it is so realistic that I even can smell the fish and hear the sea
gulls! I also hear the breaking of the waves, the wind, and feel the wet
realistic water!

Jaime, can you create deep sea fishes with wings, based on photos?

Sven

Wow, Jaime, I think it looks great!

For me the strong points are the way the scene is framed, the colors
(especially those of the sky and sea), and the lighting, waves, and
reflections of the sun on the water. I think the buoy itself is on its way,
too.

I had a strong and long-lasting suspension of disbelief when looking at "sea
buoy".

I'm not sure what look you're going for. Are you looking for photorealism or
more of a stylized look, or maybe somewhere in between? I often like the
look of scenes that have a good dose of realism, but don't apologize for
being 3d renders.

If you want more photorealism, which is to say to extend the suspension of
disbelief, I'd say work on the appearance of the birds and bouy itself (I
think it could use some more dirtying up).

Nice results, keep it up! I wonder how many CPU's contributed to that 2h22
render time :-)

Excellent, Jaime!

However.... is the gull not missing a tail??? :-)

Good catch: it's highlight on the undersea plane that I used to block
the fog. Seems that I need to get ride of the default finish...

If they are not going to be seen closely, and you don't need them
before next summer... :) Seriously, another scene I've always wanted to
do is an undersea scene with some fishes, so if I get the inspiration I
will make the fishes available in POV-Ray includes ready to use.

   I think I don't understand that sentence... :(

I was looking for realism, not necessarily photographic. Just something
that can be passed for a regular open sea. Adding the buoy was an idea I
got after searching for sea photos on google. That buoy design was the
most usual I found while searching for the spanish term "boya"... later
I found that searching for "buoy" gives very different designs.

Yes, the flying birds are very simplistic... the wings should have at
least two sections to be more convincing (now they look like little
airplanes).

Just one core of the AMD64X2... It was quick enough to bother using XRS
(not that it is that difficult really, just that I'm that lazy). With
the two dual cores and XRS it should render in little more than half an
hour. I will do the test for the final render... ;)
