Hello Everyone!

Here are three images showing a translucency effect I've been working
on. It's created by illuminating the attenuation of an area_light's
light passing through an object with an absorbing media and interior fading.

It needs some work, probably, but this is a basic example. It would be
nice to have this effect without area_lights, but it doesn't look very
good without them....

Scene file is posted in p.b.scene-files

So, what do you think of it? Comments and criticisms are always welcome~

~Sam

Very interesting!!

Why the small translate away from the camera?

"// it's translated a tiny bit away from the camera
 translate z*.001"

to avoid coincident surfaces?

Very interesting effect, and pretty easy to set up.
Thanks for sharing!

Yes. The coincident surfaces not only produce the typical grainy look,
but also cancels out the effect.
