I think that you can to improve the shiness of shader. Make it more glossed,

Cute.
Few years of evolution more and it's up to the level of my fridge's gyus.

Thanks, and yes, it took some thought to develop the macros (I'm not a
math whiz), but it is fun.

I tried to do that but had no luck. I'd like it to look slimy but even
with the most extreme specular and reflection settings it looks no
more shiny than the image I posted. I think it must be because of the
bumpy surface which tends to break up the specular highlights.

A high compliment indeed! Thank you!

That was actually due to a mistake. I have a bad habit of adding
colored lights to a scene and then forgetting about them. In this
case I had added a red light source and an orange one as "kick"
lights (down low to soften the shadows cast by the main light
source above the critter). I then forgot about them and worked on
the pigment of the flesh. After turning off the kick lights I discovered
that the flesh pigment was actually greyish-green rather than pink.
I've since corrected this problem to some degree.

Speaking of evolving, I'm going to give it a body, legs and claws next.
Right after I make the mouth less round and more "natural" looking.
... Maybe it should have dragonfly or bat wings, too...

Thanks! I laughed too. You know how it is when you try to express what's
in your imagination in SDL and sometimes the results aren't what you
expected. That happened several times while making this creature, except
that it was more gross than I had expected! I kept thinking to myself,
laughing, "The artists on the POV server are going to SHOOT me for this
abomination!"

I think it would be more creepy with no apparent mode of transportation.
Just give it a bloblike body, perhaps with some tentacles and roots. More
like it just sits and waits for whatever it can get to stumble into it.
