I decided to drop the spherical greebles in favour of the more general
superellipsoidal-greebles :)

I'm not entirely happy with the lighting and the texture, and not even
with the greebles itself, but I don't know how I could do it better than
this :(

That is impressive! Galacticultracruiser Brutus.

Now all we need are non-orthogonal greebles that float on the surface of a
molten globule - sort of like proteins in the lipid sea of the plasma
membrane. See e.g. http://www.hallym.ac.kr/~de1610/histology/cell-3.jpg for
an inspirational picture.

The worrying thing with me, Zeger, is, that I not only like your greebles a
lot, but also that very supportive texture you have applied!
It partially looks like chrome or silver, but on the other side it also
looks like burnt steel, smoky silver.

Do you mind to tell me/us what texture it is?

Besides that, I like that your texture can be applied to roundish surfaces.
But the only logical error might be, here as well as on one of the
previous-shown examples, that the greebles unlogically get smaller and
smaller the more they come close to the left or right edge. It looks damn
good this way, but I would expect the greebles to be in one consistant size.
Example: The apartments (and persons within them) don't get smaller
(shorter) the more the apartment houses are located to a 5 or 6-streets
corner. Therefore, the greebles, as well, should consist their regular size.

But nevertheless, that ting here looks damn good!!! Seems it was given by
the eons-old Gods to us mortal humans, right? What magic powers it may
contain..?

I think such kind of greebles would be distracting and only useful in
closeup-views

don't know though :)

thank you :)

that's more or less the intention :)

sure, see attachment

use as follows:

#declare Seed=seed(123); //seed-value for random translation of the
texture
#declare BS=1; //Bump size of the texture
object {MyObject Metaal()}

it can't, I had to turn off the normals or it just looked weird :(

hmm, I don't know...
it's hard to subdivide a superellipsoid in another way :-/

Hi Zeger,

I want to try out your textures, but they are macros. I created a box and
added "texture { MetaalBol(1) }", which gives the error message
"No mathing } in 'texture', texture found instead".

How should I use the textures?

Greetings,

Sven

Hi Zeger,

I have managed now to use your texture macro! But I had to add the following
line to prevent other error messages:
"#declare Seed=seed(1)"

I believe you have declared a similar seed within your scene file (*.pov)
and therefore it was missining within the include file, right?

Thanks for your file, it works out fine!

Sven
