So, here's the latest.
Added a chain to show that the plug for rescueing the heart is really
missing, not just out of view. Wrote a quick script for the chain to put the
links along a bicubic-bezier-spline (my own Include-File, not the splines
shipping with POV-Ray) and tweaked the position and rotation to look proper.
Also worked on the water to avoid a broad area of the same shade in the
lower left corner. Caustics, non-photon-mapped, added a little to the
variance of colors there and made the ripples more obvious. Photon's don't
have the desired effect on the lighting, so I'm gonna scrap that.
I've also decided to stick with the nice and clean environment I got now and
not go down the road and try to age the sink and all.
Yet to try is to add a few water droplets on some surfaces, and tweaking the
focal-blur. Aside of that, I'm very satisfied with how it turned out. I
still won't call it final, because I still might make another drastic change
or two, depending on the comments from here and from a close friend whom
I'll see tomorrow.
As always, comments and suggestions appreciated! :-)
Regards,
Tim

Is the heart perhaps a projection on the wall behind the drop where it is
safe from the illusion that it is about to be washed away?
Will a hug heal all?
Where will it all end?
Know your heart.

I'm not sure if you're still talking about the image...

I do. Sadly, others I expected to, don't.

I'm not sure what the image want's to tell me.
At first I thought it is about lost love or something
but considering that a droplet seldom comes just alone
it looks more like one honest/tender heart among so many
other goes down the drain. This would arise some interesting
questions which of course to answer would be very off topic...
Just joking.
Great image!

Well, it's been a long time since my images were that expressive that you
could easily read what's going on in my life.

And you're trying to tell me that you don't know what the image is supposed
to say?

It sure would be off-topic. :-)

Dare I ask the reason you wanted to make this image?

I have an idea what you wanted to express with your image
and you sure have good reasons for that. But I was more concerned
about what the image actually is telling without having any background.
At first there is a logical inconsistency.
- The basin is full of water though the plug is missing.
I'm sure the drain will swallow more water that the tap can ever
spill, so what happened to the plug? Btw. The chain looks
very good. And where did all the water come from? The drop
indicates it all came from the tap but that is physical not
possible (I claim).
Of course one could argue that this is a minor thing. Be it.
About what the image tells (me?).
- Is the heart your heart going down the drain? Your heart is
a unique thing so why does it go down the drain among so many
others? Are all these hearts lost? And what does it mean for them
to go down the drain? After all they're all together then. Is this
a bad thing which one would infer because of this swallowing drain?
The heart in the drop seems to indicate a temporal separateness
from others or loneliness among others, which only reveals when
someone focuses on a drop/person, but not neccessarily a broken heart.
So the topic of this image could be loneliness.
Or is this the heart of someone else one hurt some time ago?
Then again why is this heart one among so many others. Did someone
hurt so many people and the flushed them all down the drain one after
the other like nothing? Is it maybe a "morning after" scene of someone
having just another one behind in bed he/she doesn't even know the
name of?
No matter from what point of view seen the image expresses a deep
emotional isolation of someone living among a lot other someones who
are just the same but nevertheless somehow unreachable.
Then it could be a metapher for big city life or life in a large
anonymous herd.
Well, these were the thoughts that flew through my head when I saw
this image. Again, it is a very nice image/scene and it reflects a
feeling I often think to see in faces.

Sebastian

I wouldn't say it's a minor thing. It's more part of the what's being said
with the image. Don't take it as a realistic photo with a touch of emotion,
but more a depiction of something, be it emotion, thought or whatever. Thus,
there's no logical explanation why a basin can get filled with water when
there's no plug. The filled basin is part of the "down the drain" thought,
it would be hard to convey that with an empty basin without showing that
something is going down the drain.

SNIP AGAIN
That's the fun of interpretation. Though I have my own explanation why I
want things to look like they do, I also like leaving enough room so that
others can find their own meaning and interpretation. It's part of thinking
about things to view them from various angles and taking several
possibilities into account. It seems like I accomplished that. :-)

Thank you. I hoped that it reflected something, not just for me. I do want
to make some small statement with my images, or I wouldn't make them
available for the public (and there are some that I don't).

Sure you may ask. I won't go into details as the story is quite complex,
involves various people and has a long history, but to put it very, *very*
simple: once again, a friend decided for herself that she need not be there
for me when I need help. I don't have to mention that I was there for her,
always, through everything, do I?

Few words are necessary. You captured it beautifully in this image.
