I've wanted to do this for ages but have never been organized enough until
now. I've collected all the WIP renders I have for this scene and put them
on my website:

Enjoy :)

P.S. wasn't sure if I should start a new thread for this, but I figure this
is sort of different to my last post.

BTW, the source for the final image is now available on p.b.s-f, and from my
website :)

It's quite amazing to see this image go from its basic stages to the final
piece. Thanks for taking the time (and having the courage!) to post the
"process." A wonderful piece of work, inspiring from both a technical
standpoint and for its artistry.

Me likey. :-)

I did :)
Excellent!
I thought making that kind of thing for former images but as you I never was
organized enough.
You could write a making off...

They're a total cheat, just emissive media with f_spotted(x-y,0,z)
controlling combined with a gradient to fade them out just below the
surface.
BTW, the source is on p.b.s-f, and my website
(http://evilsuperbrain.com/gallery/finished/index.php?image=volcano), and
shortly the IRTC :)

The subplot of "machine 2 broke, and ...." provide a dramatic skeleton
for the story.
