We're moving house, so I've packed up our DIY-shelf that we've both
hated for years. We want to give it away so I was going to put up a
poster at the local video shop .. only I forgot to take the photo until
it was all in pieces.

So, typically nerdy person that I am, I decided to rebuild it in
POV-Ray! My wife is away otherwise I think she'd beat me senseless for
doing something so silly.

I know there's errors in the shadows .. they won't be fixed, it's just
for a quick ink-jetted sign to go at the shop :)

Cheers!

Gah, that was the big version for the sign, this one will fit on your
screen :)

BTW: Just to prove the nerdiness .. each screw is present and has a
random rotation, just like when it's built :)

Cheers!

Now while you're at it be a good chap and randomize the wood grain.
Perhaps a knot here or there - three perfectly parallel in register lines is
pushing perfection a bit far, even if it is Ozwood!
Nice catalog pic.

How is this scene lit? It appears that radiosity has been used but the
contrast is very high. Are you using a point light in the scene as well
or is this just a well done collaboriation between textures and assumed
gamma? How ever you did it, its very effective.

Wow, thanks!

After playing with radiosity-only lighting, I went back to regular
lighting. This one is a large (80cm) oriented area light (41x41 points).
I was trying to get a 'soft-box' effect that studio photographers use.

Cheers!
