Hi there!
Actually it's more a model than an image but i could not find the models
section ;-)
After searching the web quite a while for good (and free) scifimodels for
use in animations in vain i finally decided to build my one ones after all.
What you see here is the first outcome of my attempt to build a whole fleet
(and possibly an opposing one). in addition this is also the very first
model i even startet with pencil and paper! The modelling is more or less
done and i'll start texturing it now.
Comments are very welcome!
Roman
btw: i'm not a native english speaker. if you found mistakes you may keep
them ;o)

Looks sort of like the same style as the ships in the PC game
"Homeworld". Very nicly done.

Damn! I didn't expect it would be that easy to see ;-)
You're right. As a great fan of those games and its shipdesign i took it as
inspiration.
For those who don't know what we are talking about i would recomment this
site http://well-of-souls.com/homeworld/hws/hw2/concept.htm
I love the model and look forward to the textures.
Does the ship design prevents the pilot seeing to the sides or behind?

Nicely done

if you are not native english you might not know the word 'greeble' yet
(http://www.scifi-meshes.com/tutorials/norling/greeble/greeble.html,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble; search google for more examples)
very useful with this kind of image and a great way to impress other
non-natives.

Oh! Seems like i forgot the outside rear-view mirrors ;-)
To be serious: To be realistic, future space vehicles don't have any windows
at all IMHO. One could use cameras and monitors instead. In addition
distances in space are so big that one would not be able to see a hostile
ship through a window anyway as one would already be dead when you would be
near enough ;-)
Don't get me wrong when i say i don't care that much about realism because
in fact i do. but wouldn't spacefights be extremely boring without cool
sounds, visible laserrays and things like that? one has to find the right
balance :-)

Although i haven't heard that word yet and although i didn't understand
whether greeble is the name for the prozess generating those objects (e.g
"i greebled the surface") or a name for those objects (e.g "i generated
greebles") i actually experimented with this already. through those
experiments i found a quite nice method to archive such surfaces in
wings3D. maybe ill use this in the bigger models :-) thanks for the hint

Great looking model Roman. Until you confirmed Homeworld as your
inspiration source I was going to guess Star Wars. The inlets on the
front, the canopy, and some of the angles on the back end remind me very
much of the Snow Speeders in Episode 5.
