Hi all,
been lurking here a while and thought I'd submit a typical first
post. I've done a few heightfields and isosurfaces but this is my first
proper scene.
This was half-prompted by PM 2Rings post on 22/7/2005, and also by the
fact that I'm still waiting for sofa's. (you may recognise them as those
from Jaime's Lightsys indoor demo scene - from which this image is
descended thanks). I've also used Giles Tran's makeshelf macro thanks again.

I like it. The sphere tex is gorgeous. Only complaint: who on earth would
put a bookshelf there? You can't use it w/o standing on the couch, or
worse, moving it!

Yeah, very nice, I like these kind of images.

Thanks. erm...
Lifted directly from the table lamp base in Jaime's demo scene....
texture{
pigment{rgb ReflectiveSpectrum(RS_WindowAluminum)}
finish{metallic diffuse .4 reflection{.5,.7}}
}
It wasn't broke so I didn't fix it :-)

Me? I've not got the couch yet but the Ikea bookshelf is already there.

Ok I won't be able to get to the bottom 2 shelves too easily but I'm
fairly sure I'll be able to get to the rest.
It's still a WIP as the colours are a bit washed out / wrong, and I've
not done the TV etc, or any curtains and the carpet is not right. I also
want to do more to the rug and get the fire working.
The carpet looked fine from one angle but from this angle it's lost all
its texture.
Is there any easy way to do curtains or carpets?

Nice take on it. I like the overall metallic cast and also how the real
subject becomes the reflection

thanks.
Camera angles like the following seemed to be pushing the RSOCP brief a
little. So I tried to just have the sphere and the chequered plane in view.

I agree .. it's the sort of shaggy carpet I picture (in an off-white --
no checkers) fitting nicely into Tim Nikias' 'Windows' scene
