An attempt of outdoor scene.
Tree generated by Arbaro and modified by myself
Vine macro taken from the examples shipped with POV, adapted to this scene
Chain element is inspired from the tutorial

All other objects, macros and texture made by me.

What to do, now ?
- some giant mushrooms
- maybe other objects, stones, ???
- a good lightning

and, for the night scene,
- the moon
- another lightning
- lots of "lucioles" (don't know the english word. Sort of little insect
emitting green light. Visible as a halo)

Any comments, suggestions,... welcome.

Lucioles are
lightning bugs or fire-flies.
Image begs: 'More darks!'

After looking in details my scene :

 2 or 3 details to modify :
- the sky is awful. I'm reading things about skies generation, this will be
fiexed soon
- the grass must be improved. I know there are very good macros on the net
to generate it (Gilles Tran, for example), but I want to do it by myself,
even if it is not as good (still learning to use POV)
- vine texture is bad

A little list of "to-do's":
- Sky, as you mentioned yourself
- Horizon/background: too flat. Give an idea of distance (light fog, par
ex.), but also include a simple landscape (hills would be fine)
- Ground: too flat. Give some slight height variations.
- Chains: they cannot hang like that and remain straight. They sag in the
middle. See the chain macro by Chris Colefax.
- Vine: some more please
- Lucioles: On voudrait en voir une ou deux....! [for the english speaking
world: just show us some of the critters]
- Grass: needs work! more randomness in orientation, blade length, and color
- Light: radiosity would be necessary.

Overall, a nice concept. Try to play with the different elements in
different configurations. Might result in an interesting pattern.

No suggestions, but an English tip: the word you want is "lighting".

"Lightning" is the bright streaky stuff that shoots out of storms and
causes thunder. :)

Oooops ! That's not really the same...

Thomas : I take all your ideas and my laptop and see what I can do during my
holidays.

For the chains : I won't use the chain macro you mention. Will try to create
mine (and create hyperbolic cosinus and not paraboles...) If I can't manage
it, I'll take this macro.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Well, chains 'can' hang like this, it depends on the 'tension' of the
chain, and the weight of the pendant, (if any).

True, indeed, but then I would see the trees bending :-)
In the present setting, it looks "unnatural" to me...

Thanks to your advices, here is the second - and definitively not final-

Some improvements :
-sky has been rethinked and look better.
-grass has been reprogramed. Needs more works but the result is better
-lighning (without the T ;-) ) was changed. Now the shadows give a better
perspective effect
-added more vines. Must check deeply the code, the algorithm is far too slow
-tweaked some textures. You won't notice it, the details are blurred by JPEG
compression and are only noticeable in Hi-res rendering
-added some flowers made with Plant studio. Object are not textured...
-added and textured giant mushrooms.

Scales are not respected. My aim is to give some "fantasy" atmosphere so
this is not a mistake.

I'll fix what remains to be fixed and finish it later. Now, I'm in HOLIDAYS
!!!!!

I think you meant "definitely", and not "definitively". The
first means "certainly", or "without any doubt", but the second is

The grass is better, but it is still too stiff. I think the
texture of the cabins is supposed to be wood, but I can't shake the
impression that they are some kind of rusted metal instead. Finally
the picture lacks something in the background. More trees perhaps or
something to hide the horizon.

The sky is pretty good and the trees look great. Keep up the good work!
