Hi all,
Here are some chain links made with isosurface. It is not yet finished
because I would like to have rain falling with possibly droplets
bouncing off like in :
http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/gallery_view.php?photo_id=154&screen=3&cat_id=2&action=images
Does anybody have a clue on how to do that ?
Or maybe someone already did it ?
Nicolas

Will you be using radiosity in the final version? The image begs
for it.
Btw, how the heck do you achieve such photorealism? Can you teach me?

Truly awesome!
It should be very interesting to see the sources!

Mmm, wouldn't change anything about the lighting. It's spot on as it is.
It has perfect contrast and colour, there is detail in the shadows where
it matters and there is no detail where it's not needed. Even the use of
an arealight would have a negative influence on the crispness of the
image.
Only part that is distracting a bit i.m.o. is the background, especialy
the top right part, maybe reducing the depth of the structure would do the
trick for me.

Fantastic!!, the chain links are very realistic and the texture is
excellent. I agree about the background though it doesn't look as realistic
as the chain. Can't wait to see how you manage to do the droplets of
water...

This image is increadible! But i agree that the background could use a litte
improvement. I can't exactly describe what to change though. I think the
color of it is too similar as the chain links. Making it more grey, like
grey stone, could improve the color contrast. Also using light sand as a
background could be very nice however it'll be difficult to match the
lighting angle i think, cos sand lays mostly on the floor :). Lighting is
about perfect imo.
make sure to keep this kind of render as an official, and make an other
version with the rain drops. It would be good to present them as
contrasting themes. Sun and rain :)

You may try rune's particles system. Find it here:

In fact, there is radiosity that allow shadowed part to get some light.
I tried without but it was really too dark. Downside is that render is
pretty long now (isosurface + radiosity + dof) but I guess it could
certainly be improved regarding speed.
Thanks for photorealism copmment, it certainly comes from procedural
textures and the slight DOF.

Thanks for useful comments, I'm trying to render a new version with a
reduced depth for the wall as you suggest (this is a height field).

Thanks. I posted sources in povray.binaries.scene-files.
