This is a project that I started some 3 years ago but never got to finish
it. A few weeks ago I came across the source files again and decided to
spend some more time on it.
Even though it's still not all finished I'm pleased with the outcome so far.
C&C welcome as ever

Nice, is it done with Eagle3D or did you do it "manually"?

Thanks.
The tracks and placement of the parts I did with a program which I wrote
myself. Designing the parts is all done by hand in pure SDL.

I think that's more for designing a board from scratch. For this render I
used an actual board. The Intel DK440LX, a dual PII board.

Astounding! The level of detail is incredible. Care to describe just how you
made it using SDL? What kinds of objects?

Thanks

Basically it's all a matter of measuring every chip/connector/resistor and
such and model then in SDL with boxes, cylinders, planes and tori.
The tracks are nothing but cylinders and spheres and placed in the right
position by using a scan of the board.

Ouch - as I suspected. Time? How long did you work on it?
I really consider this the most detailed and complex scene I personally have
seen done with Pov in a very long time.

Overall? I don't really know, I started it about 3 years ago and worked on
it every now and then. Only the last 4-5 weeks I have spend a lot of time
on it.
As for the render I posted, it took ~48 hours to complete.

I would if I still had them. But I'll make sure to add them to the next post
(if any)
