Here's my run at a Go board with "hi-tech" pieces or something. Not even
sure how many pieces should be on the board, so I used my artistic license.
I don't really like the stone casing around the board. or the grey
backdrop. the green beams were last minute additions.

It's a work in progress i guess :)

just noticed my home computers clock is way off. grr. and the blues don't
look as brilliant on my work monitor. anyway, comments and suggestions are
welcome. especially on the stone casing. I might have to find megapov... i
think this needs an hdr environment to really show off the reflections.

Gobans don't have a checker pattern. They have square lines pattern and the inside of
all squares
are the same texture, wood etched with the pattern's lines.
Nice flying saussers "stones"!

doh! i assumed they did due to Sylvains post a few weeks ago. he had pieces
on a checkered board.

non checkered will look better anyway i think. i'll use the light wood for
the board, and then the dark wood for the casing maybe. Thanks for the tips!

Don't forget that the 'squares' on a goban aren't square. They have
aspect 12:11 IIRC. The board is placed with the long axis running from
one player to the other, so when the players look at it from an angle
the squares appear square.

Wow. I had noticed that on the goban I normally play on they are not square,
but it is nearly 100 years old and I didn't think that was standard, nor
did I know why. An anamorphicly projected board: this I will remember.

Hi everybody,
goban grid "squares" are slightly longer than wide, so that when sitted, the
player see them as squares (due to perspective). The same kind of idea
applies to stones, as black stones should be slightly bigger than the white
ones (or is it the other way around ?)

yeah, black stones are slightly bigger than white ones.

And for infomation, a goban is 19x19.
