Thought you might be interested in this scene...

I used Geomorph (not the last version!) for the landscape, Gilles Tran's
Make Cloud, and Gena's POVtree for the vegetation. The look-out is the
Lioness from the Taschen collection.

As always, comments are welcome.

Enjoy!

Wow beautifull!
These are not the Netherlands are they? I consider seeing neither windmill
nor tulip as a clue ;-)
My 2 cents: trees are too small for a rain forest and too dense for savanna,
maybe it is a transition area?

Thank you, Marc!
No, not NL indeed, although.... have you heard about the "Frisian Alps"?
They appear on bottles of Berenburg (nice drink when you are cold,
especially on a ship in winter).

So, what is this landscape? Indeed, a transition. Trees are concentrated in
the valleys, where the water is. But of course, I did not intend any real
landscape. It is the mood I am interested in.

Romantic
It makes me think about Der Hirt auf dem Felsen of Franz Schubert
Really a "drawing" not simply an image.

Thomas,

To what gamma did you render the image? It looks very flat here, the
darkest tone is in the range of rgb 0.2

Assumed_gamma 1 was used; no radiosity; only one light source.

I have been reminded also somewhat of the painter Kaspar Friedrich.

I think this is a really good scene, but the left half of it is lit almost
completely by ambient lighting and doesn't look so good in my opinion. With
all those leaves radiosity might be out of the question, but you might
experiment with shadowless lights.
