This ASX (advanced spheroid xenoform) has just lost its home solar system in
a supernova explosion and is looking for a new home. Notice the distortion
of its craft's near edges as it approaches C and prepares to tachyon-shift
to superluminal flight.

Woah! Nice! I've been wondering why no one has commented! Sure beats my
ab1.jpg and ab2.jpg though. :/

What method did you use to do this?

I like it! Guessing from the jpg filename, did you use tesselsphere to make
the shape?

Hi Steve

Thanks! Nothing strange used - the framework around the blob is made by
Nicholas Shea's tesselsphere program (there's a link on the PovRay site's
main page). The background is a Colefax galaxy and the star to the right is
a Colefax lens flare, set to always_on_top=false.

Further, the sphere is a sphere (erm... not a Pov blob, it just LOOKS like a
"blob" :) - I'll put the code in the scene files group (not the tesselation
though, its about 160K - would that be acceptable to put in there too?)
Other than that there is just a bit of focal blur set in the camera.

Thanks for looking at my image,

Yep - just the framework though. A very interesting program - it was my
first try but somehow the shell looked interesting but too... empty
somehow. So I put a reflective and transmittive sphere in there, put in a
galaxy and lensflare and viola!

Oh yeah and thought up some sci-fi hogwash to put in the post...
