Ok, this is the next version of the scene. Number things changed since first
image:

- the sails got a color. Canvas was tarred in those times for conservation
mainly, so the sails probably were not really white. This textures is very
close to the sails of the Batavia, which was rebuilt some years ago.
- put some ropes and canvas on the mast in the foreground.
- changed somewhat the texture of the islands and inclrease dthe number of
trees.
- changed the fog to a more acceptable level.

I'm definately no expert, but the sea surface bothers
me just a little, The crest of the wave going from
the barrel to the bottom right corner in particular
seems a little hard.
Maybe it's just me, but perhaps increasing the
contribution of the fine grain noise function
just a touch might help there, or adding a finer
grain noise function?

Great pic by the way.

Thomas,

Some nice improvements over the last version. I like the addition of ropes
to the wrecked spars. Did you do this with the links.inc file?

I am still working on the clean up and instructions to my rigging.inc file.
This should be done this week.

Tim

You beat me to it! But of course the reason is that the rest is so very
convincing.

Maybe, but I wouldn't mess with it myself. The rest is soooo good. Just
place an object to hide it more is the safer route I would think.

It really is shaping up beautifully. You might return to the foam at
some point when you are satisfied with the rest.

Yes, still a problem to solve as was explained in earlier thread. It is one
of my priorities to look into it :-\

Thank you very much indeed! I begin to feel satisfied with it too. As said,
the foam is next. Going to follow the suggestion of Marc in the previous
thread, although I seem to remember that I tried it already...? Hmm, work
to do.

Thanks Tim, and no, as the mast was also made in Moray, I made and
positioned the ropes with the bspline plugin. Draping a rope over the mast
was a little tricky, but fairly easy after all because you see what you are
doing.
