...I remember the effect I was originally going for; halo/bloom.  Guess 
what?  The scattering in the area around the angel is too dim for the 
effect to really work in this image!

*whaps forehead*

I guess I could do a re-render, only with no_image on the heavy-duty 
media stuff, then composite them...

I can't really picture the effect you wanted but this is looking very 
impressive.  I think the inky trees in the bg plays off against the 
media very effectively

Very nice.

Actually the subtler version of this halo effect is also very good. One 
small suggestion if you are going to redo it would be to rotate the 
position of the arrow just a bit, it looks a little unnatural to me 
being almost completely perfectly horizontal.
