I wrote a very simple macro to create borders around text (or any object).
It works by rotating the object in a circle and creating a union of each
position. No rocket science going on here...

I'll put the source in the text scene files area for anyone who may find
this useful.

Regards,
Dave

Wild! I was just about to suggest this as a feature request: operations on
text that some vector programs call "contour". It adds so much to the
professionalism of text that I thought it worthwhile. But you've found an
SDL route. Is it much slower?

In my opinion, it's not too slow to be worthwhile. Especially by setting the
accuracy low until the final render. The example "Robotron" pic rendered in
well under a minute I think, even with two borders and the accuracy setting
turned up fairly high. (700 MHz Athlon.)

I've always wished POV had built-in support for fancy text stuff, too. Text
without a bevel or border looks so cheesy.

Regards,
Dave

Very nice. The font fits perfectly to the meaning of the string.
Robotron was the computer building company in former East Germany. Did
you know?

Just my two eurocents,

Bonsai
