Here's a close-up render of the piano standing in our living-room.
I think I overdid it a bit with the focal blur, but these are my first
images using blur, so I'm in for any comments :)
Florian
(who at least rendered it, even if he can't play the piano :)

Fantastic. Very realistic, IMHO.

In that kind of view, the focal blur is strong. I would have used a
litle more blur myself, but it's very good as is.
A litle nit pick: the top edge of the white piano keys protude about 1
mm over the front of them. At least, that's what I observed on all
pianos I ever saw (not many).

Very nice! I was thinking on doing something similar in these days. Now
I have to change plans! :)
Congrats,

Thank you all for your opinions!
About that HDRI: Nope, not yet. As this one took 17 hours @ 100% Athlon
XP 2600+ (1 Gig RAM) I don't know when I have time to try it - There's
always sth. to render :)
Happy weekend,
Florian

Well, I *can* play piano (or various organs at least).
The shape of the black keys looks exactly right. As for the white keys -
well, I can't see real well from this angle. The white keys usually
stick out (slightly or a lot) over the front edge. I can't really tell
from here if yours do or not.
The rest of the machine looks pretty good too - what I can see of it.
Nicer than mine anyway - no dust, no fingerprints... ;-)
