Notice the render time quoted at the bottom...

(No, the black spots aren't supposed to be there. But with THAT render 
time, I am NOT going to turn the max_gradiant up!)

An individual called Tor has just shown me a Better Way(tm)... will 
hopefully have a more exciting post soon.

Laptop with a Mobile AMD Athlon XP 1400+ (which is really 1.2GHz), 256MB 
RAM, Windows XP.

As I noted, the issue is the highly inefficient way I told POV-Ray to 
render this thing. I have now discovered a trick that allows me to 
compute the same image very much faster.

(In fact, I used a P-IV, 1GHz machine to render the same image with TWO 
light sources instead of one, at a higher resolution, with a much higher 
max_gradient... in only 5 hours. I will hopefully post a complete image 
soon...)

LOL.

No, seriously... like I said, I found a big speedup, and I intend to do 
*lots* more. ;-)
