An experiment at producting a brushed aluminum texture. I think this 
looks good enough. I used a micronormal and focal blur to create the 
pattern. About a day to render with high focal blur settings.

You may be able to speed up the rendering by using the brushed metal
technique shown on this page:
http://runevision.com/show.asp?page=povgoodies&data=brushed

Results will probably not be identical, but somewhat equally realistic.

Hmm, This technique looks very similar to the blurred reflections 
technique...
