Nice! But I'd definitely like to see it with area light and focal blur.
Those are the key elements to a photorealistic image :) Now the image is
too left-weighted so you could maybe add a few dominos to background and
right and focus the light a bit there too.

This is mean to be a "splash screen": the
area at right is empty so that text will be
legible.

Yes, focar blur, radiosity and all are
for later.

The overall geometry of the picture may
change, say a more 16:9 aspect ratio or
even flatter...

What about the lackered finish ?

Nice. I thing you've rendered that floor before and it impressed me then.
Nice spotlight, adds a likeable emphasis. The texture on the sides of the
dominoes is cool but the tops seem too smooth. The set I have, has a
recessed top, only about half a mm, and a rough (crackle-like) bumpy
texture. Finally, the white spots seem too clean perhaps dirty them up.

V. Nice!

?

I actually used a galliper to mesure dominoes
I have home. The lengths are accurate within 1/10
of mm, so are the holes.

These vary, I suppose, with different manufacturers

Yes, eventually I'll get more fabrics. This one I had
handy.

It's not carpet, it's fabric. Like a
table cloth if you like. And that too
is pretty much up to scale. I didn't
manage to give it the velvelty look
it actually has... Working on this
too

I like the pattern. Haven't you used that one before, though, with some
isolinear chips or something? :-) It rings a bell.
