Made a bunch of changes to the "diamonds and guns" scene I have been working
on. I took into consideration many of the group's suggestions, including
pulling the camera back and using visible photons. In order to get a scene
that the computer could handle (that many diamonds and photons makes my
computer squeel) I had to render in three passes and combine the images in
post process.

If someone hasn't said this already:

Looks like a possible intro to a James Bond movie ;)

Nice! I think the cun materials look a little unreal (although that might be the
lighting), but the diamonds look perfect. I'd also suggest make the blue surface
they're on look slightly like velvet, at present it looks too hard IMO.

BTW, I don't know if you know this, but the new IRTC stills topic is "great
inventions", and I think the gun qualifies (there's few inventions that have had
as much of an impact on the world as that!).

Just a suggestion.

"Hey, did you sass that hoopy frood Skip Talbot?"
"Yeah, man, he was something."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, his 3D hobby went in some interesting directions."
"Interesting?"
"Yeah. He was obsessed with making guns."
"Guns??"
"Very realistic looking guns with POV-Ray, not real guns."
"Ah."
"And diamonds."
"Diamonds and guns -- wow."
"So, what happened?"
"He blew us all away with them."
