It has been a painfully long time since I've posted anything to the groups
so here is my most recent artistic creation.

Looks very nice. Maybe it can be made to shine even more?
By the way, have you updated the 3dsMAX scripts that convert to POV? I got
them from you back in August 2003. I'm using these scripts! It would be even
better if they could transfer UV mapping, lights and camera.
Best regards,
Hugo

It's *someone's* artistic creation, but not yours. Perhaps this is a
case of parallel development, but the title of your post gives me doubt.

We can be nitpicking here, it his *his* creation, and the adjective fitting
to this creation is *artistic*. If you're referring to the Blue Marble by
NASA, then sure, you're right. But you put it like he's really trying to
claim that this idea hasn't been realized before, and I doubt that.

Ah! Nasa's Blue Marble. I tried this one too, a few months ago. I was
trying to get it as close to the original as possible. I ended up doing
a two pass render. There's a 1024x768 desktop version at
http://www.deviantart.com/view/1897305/ for anyone who wants it...

Oh, both are very nice! Your version certainly has qualities. Where can I
see the original NASA rendering that you're all imitating?

Now I'm really impressed by John's version!! It's very close to the
original!
Of course, Kevin's is fine too. He probably wasn't trying to imitate.
Regards,
Hugo
