I mentioned a few weeks back in PB-Off_Topic that I was afraid that my
neighbors might report me to Homeland Security, since I had taken a
sudden interest in my town's water tower. Well, here are the
preliminaries, just to prove that I have no nefarious intent.

This is my first attempt to model an actual object, and I am amazed at
my own lack of observational skills. I'm constantly getting up and
running the 3 blocks over to the tower to check on some other detail
I've missed. That said, a water tower is a wonderful subject for
someone with my limited abilities, since it is all simple CSGs.

Still to come: lots and lots of attachments and details, and a 4" drain
pipe that angles out from the bottom of the tank, and follows one of the
legs to the ground. Also, of course, textures.

Comments, suggestions?

I don't think you can go wrong doing csg of infrastructure. Everytime I
drive through New Jersey I want to devote my life to doing csg, heavy
industry scenes! I never tire of looking at ironwork. Water towers are
pretty neat. As a landmark and a sort of local symbol. Often the only
'profile' in a small town. Who hasn't had stone throwing contests to
see how high you can throw relative to a water tower. And then there's
the whole sniper myth.

Nice work :-)
As you seem to use an image_map for your sky, I point your attention to this
site
http://www.schloerb.com/Dreamscape2/
Some beautifull skymaps there

Wow, thanks, those are beautiful, but actually, I just used an agate
pigment on a sphere for this sky (it's a little nicer than plain blue.)

Hey, I thought I was the only weird one ;-) After the water tower, I
plan to do the grain elevator in town, then go up the road to the new
ethanol plant.
